“PeeWee”. You only have to say it to raise a grin. Perhaps that’s because the Yamaha PW50 is a bona fide legend in the junior riding world. At just 39 kilos and with a seat height that’s knee-high to a you-know-what, this is where motorcycling starts for kids who are small in stature but big on adventure. The easy starting 50cc 2-stroke is 100 percent twist-and-go, driving through a fully automatic transmission. There’s a clean, low-maintenance shaft drive and lightweight, high-level exhaust. There’s hand control for both brakes and a simple throttle limiter so parents can adjust top speed to suit junior’s skill level. Relax and watch the learning happen. The PW50 can take it.

The Yamaha TT-R50E has electric start to get the fun happening and a semi-auto 3-speed gearbox to build skills. The little 50cc 2-stroke engine is supremely reliable and safe, with keyed ignition to put parents in control. Long travel suspension, reliable drum brakes and knobbly tyres offer real dirt capability. It’s all topped off by comfy ergonomics and a look inspired by Yamaha’s legendary YZ racers. 

When the little rider in your life is ready for a little bit more, step up to the mighty Yamaha TT-R110E. Yes, the ‘E’ is for electric start - easy and reliable. The 110cc 4-stroke engine is smooth, strong and matched to a 4-speed semi-auto gearbox which means there’s no clutch to be concerned with. Long travel suspension is as capable as it is comfortable. This is a rugged, lightweight bike that’s also easy on the eye thanks to sleek design and colours that echo Yamaha’s world-beating dirt racers. 

TT-R125LWE. That’s a lot of letters and numbers. It’s also a lot of features and performance, packed into Yamaha’s biggest fun package. The 125cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine is smooth, powerful and a breeze to maintain. The 5-speed gearbox has full manual clutch control to introduce riders to the manual shifting on full-sized bikes. Long travel suspension and a disc brake front end are ready to help youth riders start to safely experience a good turn of pace. 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels offer oodles of ground clearance and great capability on rough tracks. The whole beautiful package is wrapped in YZ-inspired bodywork made tough to shrug off rough treatment. Fun doesn’t get any bigger than this!
