5 SpeedTough terrain won’t stop us from winning. With championship-proven technology and tuning to take on every challenge, the KX450X motorcycle has what it takes to win outdoors. Get the off-road edge by riding the bike built to stay ahead of the rest.
Downdraft intake layout and aligned intake and exhaust provide strong over-run and smooth low-rpm torque. Redesigned intake ensures a straighter path for air-fuel mix, while a centrally positioned exhaust port aligns with exhaust for efficient airflow, boosting performance.
Being able to restart an engine quickly during a race can mean the difference between keeping your lead, or having to fight your way back through the pack. An electric start makes restarting the engine as easy as pushing a button.
Like the KX450, a hydraulic clutch offers a direct feel and light lever action. The use of coned-disc springs contributes to lighter clutch actuation when the lever has been pulled in, and a wider clutch engagement range, which facilitates control (especially when half-clutching).
Lightweight and designed for the rigours of off-road riding, the ECU contains multiple programmable engine maps to offer riders an advantage on the race course. Using the provided DFI couplers, riders are able to easily switch from one to another of the three engine maps to suit riding conditions.
The well-balanced frame from the KX450 contributes to the KX450X’s light weight, light handling, and slim ergonomics.
Factory-style 49 mm inverted coil-spring front fork and New Uni Trak rear suspension provide race-ready performance and adjustability for riders. Optimized spring rates and damping settings enhance feedback on tough trails.
Brake components include drilled Braking/Sunstar discs (270/240 mm) paired with a Brembo caliper and master cylinder at the front and a Nissin caliper and master cylinder at the rear. The high-performance system offers increased controllability on the brakes, contributing to enhanced corner entry.
Riders can adjust their riding position with four handlebars and two footpeg settings. The 28.6mm (1-1/8”) Renthal aluminium Fatbar reduces vibrations and provides a better grip position for front wheel control.
Medium-compound ODI Lock-On Grips offer excellent grip feel, while their screw-type fastening system greatly facilitates the task of swapping grips.
The left-side cover can be removed without tools, facilitating access to the air filter element. The element is now secured with quick-release hooks (previously a wing bolt), which makes changing the air filter a much simpler task—something that enduro or cross-country racers will especially appreciate.
The KX450 has F21”/R19” aluminium rims, while the KX450X features F21”/R18” rims for better traction. Dunlop AT81 enduro tyres are ideal for cross-country riding.
The convenient side stand comes in handy when stopping away from the paddock area.
The Power Mode selection button, new for Kawasaki KX models, replaces DFI couplers. Riders can switch between engine maps using the Mode button.
Using the Traction (T) button on the left handlebar, riders can quickly and easily select from two levels (Weak, Strong) of traction control to suit conditions and preference. Riders may also elect to turn the system off.
Factory-style launch control system increases the chance of getting a good start by helping riders maximise traction when starting on a low-traction surface.
Using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX,” riders are able to access and adjust their bike’s engine maps. Functionality (adjusting fuel and ignition timing) is similar to that offered by the accessory KX FI Calibration Kit used with previous models. Maintenance and setup logs are also available.
